Sound in the Sanctuary:  A Few Tips

We hear you!  Yes, we have heard that the sound in the sanctuary has been good for some, less so for others.  Because of the architecture and accoustics of the room, and the large number of amplified instruments and voices, sound quality and coverage can be a little unpredictable. What sounds loud in one place can be soft in another, and those places may not be that far apart!  Know this:  Your staff and music leaders are working diligently to adjust the volume, quality and coverage of sound and expect it to significantly improve.  Here is an important tip: Due to how the sanctuary speakers were originally programmed, the sound is better the closer you are to the front – less volume and better clarity. Though it may seem counter-intuitive – and even un-Presbyterian, the closer you are to the front (and the closer we are together) the better our worship experience will be. So come on down.

Special Guests This Sunday

This Sunday several special guests join us to lead worship.  Rev. Andrew Adair, Director of Antioch Partners, brings the message from Acts 1: 1-11, focusing on the mission of the church in the world. Andrew, his wife, Teri, and their three children, recently returned from missionary work in the South Central Asia country of Kyrgystan to direct Antioch Partners, an exciting new ministry designed to send a new generation of missionaries to share the good news of Christ. Incidentally, Andrew also happens to be brother of SFPC Co-Pastor, Ellen Adair Schulz!  Also joining is a new friend of the congregation, Talitha ?, who will lead us in worship.  Talitha has led worship in a variety of churches, and comes to us through Urban Hymnal, a local worship ensemble that recently performed a led a special worship service in our sanctuary.  As always, let’s come to worship prepared to glorify God who is worthy of our praise.

Chapel and Ground Floor Renovations on Schedule

Renovations to the Chapel and Ground Floor spaces continue on schedule.  Renovations will be complete by the end of May.  Upon completion, the hallways and meeting areas will have fresh and colorful carpet and paint, as will the Chapel.  With removal of a portion of the West Chapel wall, a wonderful wave of natural light comes flowing in, and the new passageway will help us all flow in and out of our worship and gathering spaces. In addition, the Chapel will be equipped with quality audio and video equipment, with comfortable and movable seating, while maintaining the sacred symbols of this beautiful worship space. Thanks for your patience during the renovations, and we and the fresh new look they will give to our building.  For more information on the renovations, please contact Director of Operations Tim Newton at 206-624-0644.

Thanks to our Refreshment Team

Many thanks to the leaders of our refreshment team, Willy Barnes and Donna Cole, who labor each Sunday to provide refreshments after Sunday worship.  This is a labor of love, so take a moment sometime soon to stop and thank Donna and Willy.  The fellowship time after worship is a great opportunity to meet new people and make connections, so make sure to stop by.  Depending on what’s happening with renovations, refreshments are either in the gathering room (just outside the sanctuary) or in the Whitworth Room.

Are You Looking to Get Connected?

Part of our purpose as a church is to get people connected with others, to form relationships that bond us together and through which God brings personal and spiritual growth. If you have yet to get connected, the Discipleship Team would love to help you join an existing group or be part of forming a new one. Give Pastor Jeff a call at 206-624-0644.

See you Sunday!
